The Crystal Reports mapping feature is really neat. But if you live in New Zealand, the closest you get is a map of Australia.
Download this zip file. Follow the install instructions and you will have maps of New Zealand regions, rivers and cities.
This time it was a Chart the client wanted on some performance evaluation. Each site was graded on a scale of 1 (Excellent) to 5 (Poor). Creating a chart based on the field hit a major problem if all 5 grades were not in the data set. The Crystal Charting wizard can't create columns out of nothing.
However we did create a solution. Have a look here.
We started with Visual Basic 4 and Crystal Reports 4 many years ago. Integrating a Crystal Report into an application has changed over the years, but we kept up along the way.
With Visual Studio and the Dot Net Framework, things were supposed to get easier. They didn't really. We still have version mis matches, and incompatibilities.
To develop with Crystal Reports 2011 you need the 2010 run time and Visual Studio 2010. Older versions of Crystal Reports will work with older versions of Visual Studio. Here is the diagram on how they all fit together.
